CYS/JUNIOR BASEBALL of OREGON – Senior Division
Age and Skill Level:
Central Youth Sports is proud to continue its successful affiliation with Junior Baseball of Oregon (JBO) in 2010. The Senior Division of JBO is for middle school aged players (13 and 14 year olds). Central’s teams will participate in the (mid-Willamette) Valley League with surrounding communities.
The JBO Senior Division is made up of different skill level classifications or leagues. CYS plans to support three JBO teams for 2010, two at the Senior National level, and one at the Senior American level.
n Senior National teams are both recreational and competitive, and could be considered the natural progression from CYS “Majors.” Senior National games are played on a mid-size field (bigger than little league, but smaller than full). Central’s National team will play in a league with an opportunity to play in the State tournament at the end of the season.
n Senior American teams play at an intermediate level of competition. Senior American teams play on a mid-sized field with 80 foot base paths and 55 ft from pitchers mound to home plate. Centrals American team will have an opportunity to play in the end of season State tournament.
n Senior Federal is for players of the highest skill level for this age group and requires increased commitment from the player/family in terms of time and money. Senior Federal games are played on a full size field. Central’s Federal team will also play in a league with an opportunity to play in the State tournament at the end of the season.
The Season:
League begins in early/mid MAY and runs through early/mid JULY.
Playoffs and Tournaments:
League and State playoffs will be held at the end of the season. Other tournament dates to be determined.
Skill Assessment/Player Assignment:
All players age 13 and 14 must participate in player evaluation sessions (i.e. “tryouts”). Player team assignment will be based on these evaluations and other considerations such as player/family interest and commitment level. Player evaluations will be held on March 20th (Session#1) and March 21st (Session#2) at the Western Oregon University gymnasium. Players may only attend one session.

Player Fees:
Registration fee for Senior JBO is $125.00. In addition to player registration, players are required to sell at least 10 Papa Murphy's pizza cards. There is not a buyout for the fundraiser this year. Concession stand help is also required, but can buy out of this obligation for an additional $25.00.
