CYS/Cal Ripken – Minor Division

Age and Skill Level:

Central Youth Sports will charter with the Cal Ripken baseball league for the 2010 season.

The Minor division is intended for players aged 9 through 10 years of age. The Minor division could be considered a natural progression from the rookie division. We anticipate 5-6 teams in the Minor division for the ’10 season.

Minors games are played on a 60 foot diamond.  Minor league players will have the opportunity to play in several in-season tournaments, as well as post-season tournaments. Participation in thepost-season tournaments will be determined by player interest and coach selection.

The Season:

The league will begin its season with mandatory practices immediately following the Spring Break. The head coach of each team will determine the practice schedule. Regular season play will begin in mid-April.

Skill Assessment/Player Assignment:

All players age 9 through 10 wishing to play in the Minor division must participate in player evaluation sessions (i.e. “tryouts”). Player team assignment will be based on these evaluations and other considerations such as player/family interest and commitment level. Player evaluations will be held Saturday, March 13th and Sunday the 14th.  Exact times and location will be updated on the CYS main webpage.

Player Fees:

Registration fees will be $ 70.00 for the 2010 season. In addition to the registration fee players will be required to participate in the annual fundraiser by selling at least 10 Papa Murphy's discount cards.  There is not a buyout of the fundraiser.  Concession Stand work is required for each family, but can buy out for an additional $25.
