CYS - Rookie Division
Age and Skill Level:
Central Youth Sports will field 5 or 6 Rookie division teams for the '10 season.
The Rookies division provides an opportunity for continued skill development for youth aged 7 to 8 years of age. Players in this division will begin their exposure to hitting a pitched ball and continued development of the fundamentals of baseball.
Rookie games are played on a 45 foot diamond (Same as T-Ball). It is our intention to introduce pitching machines as the primary method for delivering pitches to the batters. This will enable confidence in batters and increase the offensive and defensive action on the field.
The Season:
The league will begin its season with mandatory practices immediately following Spring Break. The head coach of each team will determine the practice schedule. Regular season play will begin in mid-April.
Playoffs and Tournaments:
There may be opportunities for tournament play during the '10 season. More information on this topic will be communicated throughout the season.
Skill Assessment/Player Assignment:
All players age 7 through 8 wishing to play in the Rookie division must participate in player evaluation sessions (i.e. “tryouts”). Player team assignment will be based on these evaluations and other considerations such as player/family interest and commitment level. Player evaluations will be held Saturday March 13th and 14. Exact times and location will be updated on the CYS main website page.
Players "age" is that of May 1, 2010
Player Fees:
Registration fees will be $ 45.00 for the 2010 season. Addition to the registration fee players will be required to participate in the annual fundraiser by selling at least 10 Papa Murphy's discount cards. There will not be a buyout for the fundraiser. Concession Stand work is required for each family. Buy out of the concession stand is $25.
